ECCLESIASTES
11:5 As
you know not what is the way of the spirit,
nor how the bones grow in the womb of her that
is with child: even so you do not know the works
of God who creates all things. |
Purpose
of the Life Ministry:
To provide the mothers of newborns who are in need
of assistance
with essential items for their infant for the first
three months of the
child's life.
The "Life Ministry" has started as part
of the Philoptochos, at The
Greek Orthodox Church of St. Paraskevi in Greenlawn,
NY, but it has its own working board of administration.
The ministry offers assistance to those referred
to us directly from approved outside agencies. The
mothers are provided with pre-determined items for
a three month time period.
The
starter package that each mother and child are provided
with are as follows:
A&D ointment, Q-tips, saline solution, onesies
(one-piece tee
shirt), diapers, wipes, baby wash, stretchy, 2 receiving
blankets, 1 heavy blanket or a bunting suit during
winter months, and a light blanket during the warmer
months. Diapers and wipes will be supplied
every 2 weeks.
The hours of operation are from 10:00 am to 12:00
pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The
ministry is operated by volunteers from the parish
community. If you would like further information,
or care to contribute to the St. Paraskevi Life Center,
please call 1-631-261-7272.

Philoptochos's
Care Ministry
(YEAR
ROUND MINISTRY)
The
Care Ministry was organized in order to reach out to
patients in Nursing Homes and to those who are homebound.
We provide Christian caring, support and direct services
to all of those who no longer can travel to church.
An
effective visit to someone in a Nursing Home
or shut-in is realized when you communicate Genuine
Christian Love and Concern
as an Orthodox Christian.
If you
would like to help or if you know of anyone who has
need of our services,
please the Church, 631-261-7272.

As
we give thanks for our meals, please do not forget
these less fortunate.
If
you would like to help or if you know of anyone
who has need of our services,
please contact the

GOYA'S
Christmas Star Program
(CHRISTMAS)
Christmas
Star Program For Christmas. Since 1998, the
GOYA has sponsored the an annual "Stars of
Love" Project.
Parishioners selected Stars with gift requests for
local families, in need. Gifts of toys,
clothing and household items were lovingly purchased
and wrapped, then brought in and placed under the
St. Paraskevi Christmas tree. This year,
the generosity of the St. Paraskevi Parish allowed
23 children, and their parents, to enjoy the beauty
and love of Christmas, with special gifts.
If
you would like to help or if you know of anyone
who has need of our services,
please contact the Church, 631-261-7272.
