THE  SAINTS OF ST PARASKEVI     THE LIFE OF CHRIST

Letter from Father Nick Capilos St Paul's Greek Orthodox Church
Savannah, GA

"Dear  Father John,
The purpose of this letter, besides saying hello, is to tell  of an event having to do with St Panteleimon.  Some time ago, Fr Al Demos sent me two vials of Holy  Oil from the Saint's shrine there in Greenlawn. Recently,  I had a parishioner, named Eipinike, who fell into a  diabetic coma. She had been unconscious for about 36 or more hours. During this time she had suffered several severe strokes. After a month or so in intensive care,  the doctors called the family in for a talk. The family then called me and asked me to talk with the doctors  also so that I could help them with a decision. The patient would never recover any consciousness, thus  remaining a vegetable for as long as they could keep the body alive. I spoke with the family and advised  them to allow God to do His will by removing the artificial means of life she was hooked up to. They agreed to this.  It would take a few days for the patient to expire after  this, I was told. Then the family and I went into the  room and prayed for Eipinike and I anointed her with  Holy Oil from St Panteleimon. This occurred on a Friday. By Monday morning Eipinike was awake, looking around,  and speaking coherently in both Greek and English. The doctors and everyone else were amazed. She continues  to improve daily. The x-rays show severe scaring on the brain and indicate that she should be brain dead.  Yet, by the grace of God, she is slowing returning to normal. The internal organs that had ceased to function during this time have also started to work again as well. Wondrous is God in his Saints!

Again, I pray for your strength and well being there at St.  Paraskevi.  She too has answered my prayers in a big way.  I'll tell you about that next time.

In Brotherhood.
Father Nick Capilos

Letter from young woman (30 years old) in Florida who was to undergo a very serious operation and they were not sure if she would survive.  She was sent holy water and  holy oil from St. Paraskevi.  Here is her response...

"I wanted to let you know that I received the Holy Oil  and Holy Water, as well as the brochures that you sent  me and I thank you VERY much for that. I also wanted to let you know how much they helped! I am progressing  very well. Today is exactly 4 weeks after my surgery, meaning they replaced by  aorta valve.  The  aortic valve is now mechanical and they repaired my right coronary artery via a by-pass as a precaution.  I was able to come home from the hospital 6 days after  surgery. All the prayers and thoughts helped very much  as I was at the surgeon's office for a follow-up this past Tuesday, and they cleared me for "light driving"  to the store, appointments, etc. I am still restricted to no lifting over 10 lbs and will be staying home for another couple of weeks then ease myself back into work.

Again, I wanted to thank you for your thoughts and the things you sent me. I appreciate them very much.
